Apple Radio Remote for iPod (White)

Apple Radio Remote for iPod (White) Review

I got this as a present. Honestly, I had been considering buying a Zune because the iPod didn't come with a radio function. However, my wife bought me an iPod for Christmas. So, I began looking around for a radio function and found this. The only problem is that it was about ! So, after paying 0-0 for an iPod, Apple gets you for another . br /br /As the product goes, it works well. I use it primarily at the gym to tune into the televisions or local radio stations. I have to admit though, I was disappointed that there was no AM function. I know many people disregard AM, but sometimes its the only way to get the college football, basketball, etc. game. So, I was a little irritated when I was listening to a game in my car, go into the gym and realize that this add-on only supported FM. br /br /Overall, this will work quite well for most people. It comes with a set of headphones that have a shorter cord since the remote/FM receiver has quite a bit of cord already.

Tuning takes place right there in the color display with your Click Wheel, just as you'd set a classic analog radio. Easily mark a favorite station for quick access later, and switch between favorite stations using either the iPod or the remote. p If you're listening to a station that supports the Radio Data System (RDS) standard, you can even see song title/artist or radio station information in the iPod display. The iPod Radio Remote supports FM stations from 87.5 to 107.9MHz (in both the US and European standards) and 76 to 90MHz (the Japanese standard). You can switch between the different standards when traveling. p With the wired remote, you can control slideshow, video and music playback Ñ adjust volume, skip forward/back within a playlist -- plus switch between radio stations and turn the radio on or off, even if your iPod is in your pocket or backpack. Clip the remote to your lapel, shirt or collar for easy access, and activate the hold switch to eliminate unwanted button presses. p At just over half an ounce in weight (15.7 grams), the compact remote features a simple, familiar interface and plugs into the Dock connection on your iPod or iPod nano. The included pair of Apple Earphones has a cable that's a few inches shorter than a standard earphone cable, making it the perfect fit. You can plug it into the 3.5mm stereo minijack port on the remote, or use another favorite set of earphones. p Because the iPod Radio Remote is powered by the iPod itself Ñ no extra batteries required -- using the FM radio will affect iPod playback time. pbiPod Compatibility/bbr iPod nano 1G, iPod nano 2G, iPod 5G/5.5G Video Listen to FM radio on your iPod and control everything with a convenient wired remote. a poor product, they don't last - K. Loyd - Atlanta, Georgia
I've bought 2 of these now, both quit working after 6 mos to 1 year of irregular use, the problem seems to be related to the connection.br /Though under warranty, Apple will not accept these for a return or a replacement as they do not have a 9 digit serial number printed on them anywhere. As a result of my experiences with these and with Apple customer service, I will never purchase another ipod product.

Philips wOOx Dock and Remote for iPhone/iPod

Philips wOOx Dock and Remote for iPhone/iPod Review

I own this clock radio purchased at BB. My objective was to find a stylish clock radio that would fit on my smallish night stand. It had to have dual alarms - 5 day and weekend mode; and be able to have choice of either buzzer alarm or radio. The display must have dim settings. This Philips model does all that and a lot more.br /br /Little did I know the search would take me to so many stores. Nowadays, clock radios are an afterthought. Most are cheap-o looking and garish. I couldn't believe the poor quality of clock radios out there. This Philips model fits the bill for me with a couple of caveats - see below. Although an iPod dock wasn't on my required list, the choices for clock radios are so much better than without it.br /br /Here's what I like:br /* Great sound from such a small unitbr /* Small footprint on the night stand - most other clock radios with iPod docks are a bit largebr /* Contemporary looking - looks nice with my black iPod Classicbr /* Easy to use - albeit it helps to read the manualbr /* Remote to set time and alarm, as well as play iPodbr /* Charges iPod while in dockbr /* Gradual alarm from whisper-quiet to loudbr /* Ability to use either the (gentle) buzzer, radio or iPod for the alarm br /* Feels sturdybr /* Did I mention the great sound?br /br /Here are those caveats:br /* The main purpose of the clock radio is to tell the time. The numbers are a bit over-stylized which you can't really tell on the photo online or the box. It's evident as soon as it's plugged in. It's hard to read the time from say across the bedroom while getting dressed. But I have gotten used to it; so just a warning in case you really need, say large, bright plain numbers.br /br /* The display doesn't have enough dim settings; it's either very bright, less-bright-but-still-bright or off. This is unfortunate; as sometimes I do wake up in the middle of the night wondering what time it is. However the less-bright-but-still-bright lights up the room a bit too much so I use the off setting. It's not a deal breaker but if you are really sensitive to the light; then you might want to consider another model - amazingly, it's difficult to find a model where there are decent dim settings.br /br /Overall, I'm very pleased with the clock radio and would recommend it but also note those warnings about the brightness and somewhat difficult to read numbers.

Scosche RF Remote Control for iPod classic 5G, 5.5G (Black)

Scosche RF Remote Control for iPod classic 5G, 5.5G (Black) Review

I came across my Scosche RF Remote Control today, while I was looking through my drawer of iPod accessories for items I would weed out. This one's a keeper. br /br /I've used this remote control for the past two summers, and I've been very happy with it. I leave my iPod inside my upstairs window, connected to a wireless speaker transmitter. I tuck the remote control and my phone into a waterproof pouch, and then I can control my iPod tracks and volume from my floating pool lounge, without worrying about my ipod getting dropped or soaked (and without having to get out of the pool to pause the music so I can answer the phone). I was impressed with the range of the device, which in my experience is slightly greater than the manufacturer's spec. Keep in mind, I'm using it outdoors, so the only obstruction is a window. My wireless speakers don't pick up or cause any interference when using the Scosche RF remote.br /br /I only use it while attached to a wall charger, through the pass-through, so I can't comment on battery drain. br /br /It's a really nifty gadget that has held up well to the repeated cycle of heavy use and storage I've subjected it to.br /br /This was the first Scosche product I ever tried, but since then, I've made several Scosche accessory purchases and I've come to trust the brand. They haven't let me down.

Scosche RF Remote Control for iPod classic 5G, 5.5G (Black) Feature

  • Wireless RF remote control designed for the iPod 5G with video
  • 150-foot wireless range is large enough for most applications
  • Options include play, pause, shuffle, random, and select playlist
  • Pass-through receiver plugs into iPod video's dock connector
  • Measures 2.44 x 1.06 x 0.5 inches (W x H x D); 90-day warranty
Enjoy complete control of your iPod 5G with video with this Scosche RF remote control. Ideal for listeners who want to integrate the iPod video into their home entertainment system, the remote works from up to 150 feet away--plenty long enough for most applications, including switching songs or movies from the next room or upstairs in a home with several audio or video zones. More importantly, the remote handles all of the iPod video basics, including play, pause, rewind/forward, volume, shuffle, and track or playlist selection. The remote is also easy to set up: simply plug the included receiver into your iPod video's dock connection and you're set. And thanks to the receiver's pass-through connection, you can add a charger, FM transmitter, or Bluetooth accessory to the bottom without disconnecting the dock cable. The 5G remote, which measures 2.44 by 1.06 by 0.5 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a 90-day warranty. pbWhat's in the Box/bbr RF receiver, RF remote control, 40-inch audio cable, user's manual. Not awful, but not too good either - Alejandro Valerin - Miami, FL, 33166
I purchased this remote for my Ipod Video (30GB). When I first took it out of the box, I was very happy, its color is the same as my iPod (black) and it also has the same width.br /br /The unit fits OK with the iPod and the remote control is small and cool, but I found some flaws:br /br /1. The unit easily disconnects if you maneuver the iPod in the car, for example, and I don't mean a drastic movement.br /br /2. The remote control, it says up to 150ft.... yeah right, that is NOT true, even within the car (I have a small car) if you don't point the remote directly to the unit, it won't work. It also is kind of slow when you push the button to change a song and when the iPod actually change it.br /br /The reason I rate this with 2 stars is because the unit, when it works, takes away that uncomfortable task to change the song by touching the iPod itself.br /

br /This is really a 4.5! The stand serves as a charging station and sets the "tone" for the nice package that this nifty gadget brings to the table! Literally, you can sit at the dinner table with your guests, and a track comes on that doesn't fit the mood of the food or the attendees, one quick click and on to the next track from two or three rooms away. DOES NOT WORK WITH 4TH GENERATION NANO - Tony A. Eubanks - Florida
When I purchased this, I took a chance that it would work with my 4th Gen Nano. First it does not. It doesn't even fit. You would think that a company would tell you that up front. There was nothing in the advertising that said it wouldn't, which is just as big a lie as br /saying it would. I am not at all satisfied with this company and don't have the time to go back and forth trying to get it resolved. I can't tell you that this product works or not, but I will say this. If a company hides a simple thing like compatibility, then stay away from them.br /Later that week I purchased the DLO HomeDock Music Remote for a lot more money and it worked beautifully for about a month. Then one day all of a sudden it stopped working. I am an entertainer and rely on backing tracks from my ipod for my stage shows. The Homedockbr /had a screen that actually showed you what was playing which was pretty cool. But, like I said, it bit the dust. But it was compatible and there was adequate advertising stating that unlike the Taurus.

Works great - Maryam Bonacci - Omaha, NE
Works great, the only problem is trying to plug it in with a skin on it. But besides that, it's awesome and we use it all the time.

Rf Remote Front Row Mac Only

Rf Remote Front Row Mac Only Review

Works quite well and does what it says it is supposed to do. I do have an issue that might be just with my model computer. When I put the computer to sleep using the remote control, a while later it is asleep with the fans racing. I have tried it several times to make sure it is just happening from the remote and sad to say the results were correct. BTW I have a dual G5 2.0 running the lastest Leopard OS 10.5.3. Even though I can't put the computer to sleep using the product without issues the positive side is I can control all my media from anywhere in the room and I was waiting a long time for someone to finally come out with this product for computers without remotes. It is also likely that the problem might be with Leopard as the remote was made before the release of this OS. Even with the problem I give it a high rating.

Rf Remote Front Row Mac Only Feature

  • Sold Individually
The RF Remote for Front Row is a sleek and powerful RF remote control designed specifically for use with Apple's Front Row multimedia software. It provides more range, convenience and flexibility than infrared remotes. The RF Remote for Front Row provides a range of 60 feet or more (about twice the distance of infrared remotes).Unlike an infrared remote, this RF remote does not require line of sight to the receiver. This allows you to manage Front Row from more areas within the room or even from other areas of your house.Since the RF signal works through walls and furniture, you have more flexibility in locating the Macintosh that will be used to run Front Row. For example, you can place a Mac mini inside an entertainment center cabinet or within an AV closet and still easily control Front Row with the remote.

It just works! - Sumpeople Callme -
This is a great remote for use with older macs that cannot take input from the Apple remotes. Very simple to setup, and it works flawlessly to control Front Row. The range is good although the part about it working through walls is not accurate. I am using this on a G5 that is sitting next to my entertainment center, so I have strategically placed an artificial plant in front of it. At times the remote doesn't work because of the plant, so I am doubtful it would work through walls.br /br /Overall a good remote.

good but still a bit confused - Todd Katz - San Francisco area
I bought this unit to control Front Row running on an Intel Mac Mini. Output is through a TOSLink cable to digital input on my amp. I purchased this because the Mac Mini is behind the wall and the Macintosh remote wouldn't find its way through the wall.br /br /The RF Remote Front Row actually does work. The 60-foot claim is certainly not accurate in my case but going through a wall with a certain amount of electronics on both sides, I'm able to use the remote reliably at about 6 (six) feet. Hopefully you'll get better results. br /br /I also found that it was not possible to use the volume controls because Front Row does not support volume adjustment for digital output. The audiophiles indicate that this is done on purpose but that really does not explain why I-tunes can be controlled by the IPhone Remote App but not Front Row. br /br /The solution I found -- and it is a good one -- was to use the freeware Soundflower in conjunction with their companion application Soundflowerbed. Their documentation is fine so I won't go into the ins and outs of it other than to say that it was not difficult to install or set up. Now I have volume control of both I-Tunes and Front Row using the RF Remote Front Row. Very nice!br /br /[...]

Dock Station Ipod with rf Remote

Dock Station Ipod with rf Remote Review

I've had a 60gb ipod for a long time and mainly use it to enjoy my large music collection at work. As a musician and a bit of an audiophile, I'd always found the sound coming from the ipod's headphone jack into my stereo at work disappointing. When I plugged the ipod into this dock, the sound improvement was HUGE! The imaging and bass response are vastly improved, and the highs are much smoother. br /br /My only concern is that I can only get the gain up enough for really good sound by using the remote. The wheel on the ipod can only get it to a certain point. This is not a problem as long as I never lose the remote. It would make sense to not have to rely on the remote for good sound. br /br /Generally, the biggest audio improvement I can imagine for .

Total dissapointment - PrakThomas - Pennsylvania
I had hoped to plug my iPod into my stereo receiver and play it through my main system's speakers. Although techinically the product "works", the sound is grossly distorted to the point of constant distraction. Attempts to improve the sound by trying multiple input channels on the receiver, jiggling the iPod and forcing it down onto it's connection were all unsuccessful. I only use the unit as a stand and charging unit. A waste of money.
