Bought this to use with my iPod Touch while mountain biking, although the same issues would exist for the iPhone in these conditions. Normal iPod phones with remote fall out, so I need to use earphones with an over the ear clip to keep them in place. Also, I prefer the phones I use as they are open, that is I can hear what's going on around me (volume is always kept low). However, getting to the controls is difficult to change a selection or raise or lower volume so I purchased this device. br /br /I read several reviews for this and other brands of iPod remotes and all seemed to have durability issues. I've used this several times mountain biking and have had no problems so far. The controls are kind of small for use with gloves (biking, snow boarding, etc), often accidentally pause when I want to change volume, but this is still way better than having to pull out my iPod Touch when on the bike. It is also far better than the Apple iPod remote phones where the control is located by your neck. Not so easy with gloves, always had to stop to adjust the volume or change selection- or more likely the bud fell out of my ear. Just wasn't worth taking the iPod biking with the Apple remote phones. Another minor, although expected, issue with the iLuv remote is it makes the cord kind of long and easier to get caught by branches.br /br /Haven't used it long enough to determine durability, but it's so far withstood prodding with gloves (not delicate), and if it does break I'll just get another. It's worth it.

I was so disappointed when I found out I could only use the earbuds that came with my shuffle. Apple earbuds hurt after just a short time. I saw this and thought I would give it a try. I love it!! It works perfectly and now I can use my Skullcandy earbuds!!!
